Don Beyer was born in Italy and has represented the 8th Congressional District since 2014. He served as lieutenant governor of Virginia from 1990 to 1998, and President Obama appointed him ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from 2009 to 2013.

He is passionate about climate change and works hard to protect our environment. His web site says “Frankly, it angers me that some Tea Party Republicans ignore science and the harm that climate change and pollution in general, is causing to our planet and our health.”

He supports stronger gun control laws, equal pay for women and raising the minimum wage.

Most important, he is a strong advocate for immigrants. His web site includes a story that should make sense to everybody:
As a businessman, I’ve heard tales of hardship from many people who crossed borders to find a safe home here in the United States. One such friend, Manuel, had a choice in his Salvadoran village between joining a death squad or being killed by it. He fled in the middle of the night and today is an American citizen with a happy life full of opportunity.

There must be a path to citizenship for the hard-working people who contribute to our communities. They help keep our economy strong and deserve the opportunity to become new Americans. We also need to ensure that children who came to the United States early in life have the chance to attend college, receive in-state tuition, and work toward their dreams just like every other hard working student. I fully support the DREAM Act and would urge my colleagues in Congress to do the same.

Don Beyer has your best interest at heart.

Thomas Oh is the Republican challenger for the 8th Congressional District. There is very little information about him; he has never been elected to any office or been involved in any local organization. The only information available is from his web site:

Oh received his bachelor’s degree in criminology, law, and society with a concentration in homeland security and justice from George Mason University in 2013. As of April 2018, he was pursuing an MBA from George Mason Univiersity [sic] with an expected graduation date of 2019, and was associated with Delta Sigma Pi. Oh served in the Army Reserve between 2010 and 2013, and served as an active duty member of the U.S. Army from 2013 to 2017. Beginning in 2017, Oh continued his service with the Army Reserve.

He wants better roads and a bigger military, but wants to replace income taxes with a small national sales tax so that rich people can pay the same amount as somebody working 2 jobs just to survive. Someone with no experience who would do everything Donald Trump wants is not what the District needs.
